My First Art Basel: Pinaree Sanpitak
20 Dec 2020
The Thai artist reflects on the first time she visited Art Basel in Hong Kong, and the challenges her work faces in the context of an art fair.
Some highlights include her first visit to the fair in conjunction with her solo presentation with Yavuz Gallery in the Insights sector, 2015. Titled ‘Conversation in the Garden’, the works included a mixture of paintings, sculptures, and a hammock made entirely out of glass weighing nearly 400 kilos.
In 2019, Sanpitak participated in the Encounters sector, with an installation titled ‘the Walls’ with STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery.
